The form of the Chalice is reminiscent of the womb, and together with it’s traditional use in holy communion, represents renewal of life. Just like butterflies emerging from the pupa, radical change cannot be contained within a vessel but will naturally spew out and shine forth. For many of us, this period of gestation are our creative struggles before we arrive at producing a work of art. As for me, this ceramic piece is also an expression of the miraculous transformation that is happening both to me and inside of me throughout the past few months of my pregnancy.
